I grew up in Virginia and attended Wake Forest University where I found my first paid writing job in the Sports Information Department. (Go Deacs!) After graduation, I worked for Raycom Sports, the County's recycling program and as a writer, photographer and graphic artist for the City of Charlotte.
After my wife and I adopted our daughter, I joined the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators (SCBWI) and began writing picture books and middle grade novels. I enjoy conferences, workshops and critique groups as much as writing.
In 2016, I was accepted to the Rutgers One-On-One Plus Mentorship program.
In 2017-2018, I served as an intern for a literary agency in New York.
My personal essays and commentaries have aired on the local NPR affiliate in Charlotte and in The Charlotte Observer.
I'm represented by Allison Remcheck at Stimola Literary Studio. Besides laughing at my picture books, she always wants to read more of my middle grade stories. Plus, she gave me the perfect compliment, calling my writing style "funny and breezy."
Thanks Allison! You're the best.
